Alleghany Community Theatre
ACT, the Alleghany Community Theatre, was established in 2000 to promote and
increase the public knowledge and appreciation of the arts and culutural
activities in Alleghany County through theater.
ACT typically presents a spring, summer and fall production, offers workshops and supports other theater arts activities in Alleghany County. Auditions are open to any and all. Past productions have included: "Steel Magnolias," "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," "All My Sons," "Faith County," "Nuptials, "Kenny and Raymond," "Shock of His Life," and "Where the Lilies Bloom." (You do not have to be an ACT member to audition. Check sparta-nc.com/ACT/ for upcoming auditions.) ACT is an all-volunteer charitable non-profit overseen by a board of directors. As such it is always in need of willing helpers, particularly during production of a play. In addition to the actors on stage, there is need for volunteers to help with lighting, sound, set construction, ushering, program advertising sales, program layout, newsletter production – you name it. To learn more about ACT, please visit our Website. You can join online. Membership begins at a low $10 per year ($5 for student members). Presently, ACT is a small organization and operates without an office. If you have space you would like to donate to a struggling arts organization, please contact us at the number below.
