Alleghany County
Board of Education
Alleghany Public Schools are served by a five-member elected Board whose
responsibility it is to set policy for the county's three elementary schools and
one high school and to hire a superintendent to administer the public education
program. The Board meets in the Conference Room of the Board of Education
Central Office building at 5:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month.
Board Members Clarence Crouse Betsy Dillon Charles Joines Sonia Joines Board meetings are open to the public. Individuals wishing to bring matters before the board are asked to submit their requests to Superintendent Duane Davis at least four days before the Board meeting so they can be listed on the agenda in a timely fashion. Parents and other individuals who have questions regarding students, teachers, policies or other matters regarding individual schools are encouraged to first discuss their concerns with the school principal. For more information about the individual schools, click on their Website links in the upper left of this page. The Board of Education Central Office building houses the office of Superintendent and other administrative staff. Individuals wishing to apply for jobs with the school system should pickup and submit applications to this office. Anyone wishing to speak to the Superintendent is encouraged to contact the receptionist for an appointment time. Anyone with questions about administrative services is encouraged to ask the receptionist or explore the Website links at the upper left of this page.
