eAlleghany.Net seeks to be the online hub of Alleghany County, North Carolina, our home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The site was developed with the assistance of a Rural Internet Access Authority grant secured by New River Community Partners and was developed as part of the eCommunity planning process. The goal was to create an online home for the residents of Alleghany County. The site goes hand-in-hand with the Blue Ridge Business Development Center and the A. Anderson Huber Cyber Campus, the community’s premier technology resources.

Through community meetings held during the spring of 2002, residents were surveyed as to their needs and wishes for a website that would build and enhance their sense of community and provide them with the technical and communications tools for the 21st Century. At the top of those surveys was a desire for a directory of local email addresses and URLs, easy access to community events, information on available jobs, and the ability to directly searh local agencies and organizations for available services.

eAlleghany.Net will always be a work in progress. By design, the ability to update information is provided as close to the source of information as possible. New resources will be added as needed. Just as our community is always growing and changing, it will become a part of that growing changing experience.
