According to Backpack Coordinator, Theresa March:
“During the school year, ‘at risk’ youth are provided free or reduced cost meals. Many also receive backpacks of kid-friendly food to provide them nourishment through week-ends. But during the summer months, things become more difficult for many of these children. Without the Children’s Summer Backpack Program, many children in Alleghany have no access to food when school is out.”

Make plans to come see the SUPER Western Piedmont Symphony in Sparta, 7PM Sept. 19 at the Alleghany Community Auditorium.
Tickets are just $10 and children under 18 get in free!
This year’s program is called:
Heroes & Villains
Tickets will be available, soon at Alleghany County Public Library, Alleghany County Chamber of Commerce and Books N Friends Bookstore in Sparta!
If you’ve got something you’d like to display for the upcoming exhibit, contact Alleghany Historical Museum at 336-372-2115 and leave a message.
Volunteers are currently working to ready the museum for its Grand Re-Opening this Fall.
