Sparta UMW Supports the Solid Rock Children’s Backpack Program

October 5- Sparta United Methodist Women donates $2700 to the Solid Rock Food Closet’s Children’s Backpack Program.

According to Backpack Coordinator, Theresa March:

“During the school year, ‘at risk’ youth are provided free or reduced cost meals. Many also receive backpacks of kid-friendly food to provide them nourishment through week-ends. But during the summer months, things become more difficult for many of these children. Without the Children’s Summer Backpack Program, many children in Alleghany have no access to food when school is out.”
